FAQ

A. Namibia is an all-year-round destination.

Namibia has an average of 300 sunny days a year. The rainy season is during the summer months (November – April). Within a few days, dry riverbeds turn into raging rivers and the country awakens in a lush green.

The best time to visit depends on your interests and which regions you want to visit but generally April to October are ideal for exploring this country.

In April and May the temperatures are around 27 degrees during the day with a blue sky stretching across the country. At night, temperatures cool down a little.

In the dry winter months (June-August), some regions temperatures can drop below freezing, but during the day it can climb up to a sunny 20 degrees. This dry season is ideal for game viewing.

Namibia’s summer months (November to April) can be extremely hot, so many Namibians travel to the much cooler coast.

Namibia is bearable during the summer and occasionally refreshed by short downpours of rain. As Namibians, we live for the rain and welcome it with open arms and the occasional happy dance.

Here in Namibia, we use the Namibian Dollar (NAD) which is equal to the South African Rand (ZAR). We also accept the South African Rand in Namibia as currency.

Credit and debit cards are widely accepted for payments of accommodations, in shops and restaurants here in Namibia.

At this stage no vaccinations are required. This might change in due time considering the Covid-19 vaccination.

Our winter months are normally mild during the day, so please include light summer clothes, but evening and nighttime can become very cold- and even during the summer months, after a downpour or at the coast- warm clothes should definitely be included.

Sunscreen and a hat are recommended all year around.

Namibia is a relatively safe and peaceful country to explore. The crime rate has increased like everywhere in the world and being vigilant is necessary, especially in the larger cities and the capital. It is not advised to keep your valuables in the car while exploring towns and cities and be aware of pickpockets. Almost all accommodation establishments have safes, where you can safely store your valuables. We also recommend to not carry large amounts of cash on you, but rather swipe with your debit or credit card.
