Etosha National Park

Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s most accessible wildlife sanctuaries, covering an area of approximately 22,270 square kilometres. The park features a vast salt pan, visible from space, which is surrounded by grass and thorn savannah, Mopane bushland in the west, and dry forest in the northeast. This unique landscape supports large concentrations of big game. Visitors can observe these animals, particularly during the dry season, around the numerous waterholes scattered throughout the park.

Etosha is home to over 114 mammal species, including several threatened and endangered species such as the black rhinoceros. It also boasts around 340 bird species, making it a popular destination for birdwatchers. The park’s commitment to conservation has helped stabilise populations of cheetahs, leopards, lions, and elephants, providing crucial insights into the ecological balance necessary for their survival.
