Highlights of three African countries SCS H 18 (18 Days)

Day 1:
Departure from Windhoek at 07h00 via Gobabis, crossing the border post Trans Kalahari / Mamuno into Botswana. Continue through the Kalahari past Xanagas and Kalkfontein to Ghanzi. Overnight at Ghanzi Trail Blazers, where you have the opportunity to view a Bushman Dance and /or do a Bushman Trail to discover the flora of the area.

Day 2:
Drive past Ghanzi and De'kar to Kuki Gate, the border between Ghanziland and Ngamiland. Continue to Maun, the capital of northern Botswana.
Camping at Sitatunga Crocodile Ranch.

Day 3:
In the morning time for some shopping and money exchange in Maun. Optional: 1-hour flight over the Okavango Delta. Proceed to the Moremi Game Reserve, which is one of the most beautiful game reserves in Botswana. The park is situated in the Delta, adjacent to the Tswana territory in the northeast.
We set up camp inside the Moremi Game Reserve.

Day 4/5:
Explore the Moremi National Park on extensive game drives through Mopani Forests at the edge of the swamps. Elephants, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, hippopotamus, lions, leopards and wild dogs can be viewed in the park - not to forget the large variety of birds.

Day 6:
We brake up camp and travel north via Kwai Gatze to Savuti, in the southern part of the Chobe National Park. Spend one night camping in the Savuti Channel, excellent for lion and other predator viewing.

Day 7:
After breakfast we drive through the Chobe National Park, known for its huge herds of elephants and buffalos. Northern Chobe has beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets, with a large variety of birds and animal life.

Day 8:
Extensive game drives and bird watching in the Chobe National Park. With some luck you might see Kudu, Bushbuck, Sable antelope as well as Lions and Leopards.

Day 9:
Optional: Daytrip to the mighty Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

Day 10/11:
From Chobe our drive takes us over the borderpost Ngoma into Namibia and in to the eastern Caprivi. Past Lake Liambesi into the southern part of the Caprivistrip we reach the dense vegetation of the Mamili Park.

Day 12:
Gamedrive through the Mandume Park and then continue over the border to Shakawe, on the western side of the delta in Botswana. Overnight camping in tents on the banks of the Okavango, at Drotskys Cabins.

Day 13:
Daytrip to Tsodilo Hills to visit some Kung bushmen paintings. Overnight camping at the Delta, Drotskys Cabins.

Day 14:
Poling by mokoro (dug out canoe) into the Delta. Light lunch on one of the islands before we return back to camp.

Day 15:
In the morning a 3-hour motorboat trip on the Okavango. One can see the Fish Eagle trying to catch some fish out of the water. Angling also possible.

Day 16:
Heading northwards over the Mohembo borderpost back into Namibia with a short gamedrive through the Mahango Park. Overnight in tents on the campsite of the Hakusembe Lodge, with view over the Okavango River.

Day 17:
After an early breakfast we drive to Grootfontein and further along the eastside of the Waterberg to the Waterberg Plateau Park, for the last night camping.

Day 18:
Before breakfast you can enjoy the special atmosphere of the sun coming up and the stunning view over the wide open plains. Via Okahandja, where we visit a Kavango-woodcavers market, we arrive in Windhoek at approximately 14h00.

Inclusive:

Three meals a day, sightseeing, boat trips and entrance fees as mentioned in the itinerary, experienced English speaking guide and personnel. Accommodation in a double igloo tent, (single igloo tents are available on special request). Transport in a specially designed Mercedes Unimog - Safari bus or Toyota Land Cruiser (for groups smaller than 5 persons), fully equipped with camping gear.

Not included in the price:

Personal expenditures like drinks, telephone calls and tips for tour guides and other personnel, and optional excursions.
