WHOLE NAMIBIA IN ONE TOUR (16 Days) - CODE SWAS 16

Day 1:
Drive from Windhoek via Dordabis (visit the oldest Karakul weavery of Namibia), Uhlenhorst and Stampriet to Gochas. Afternoon nature drive.
Dinner/overnight/breakfast at Stoney's Country Hotel or similar.

Day 2:
Drive along the Auob River, visit to the Kokerboom forest (quivertree) and continue to Keetmanshoop and proceed past the Naute Dam to the Cañon Lodge.
Dinner/overnight/breakfast at Cañon Lodge.

Day 3:
Visit the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world. This gigantic ravine, in places almost 500 metres deep, has been gorged out of vast undulating plain in the course of thousands of years. Proceed to Klein Aus Vista via Seeheim and Aus.
Dinner/overnight/breakfast at the Desert Horse Inn.

Day 4:
Day visit to Lüderitz, the first German settlement in Namibia, named after the merchant Adolf Lüderitz from Bremen, who bought this area from the Hottentots in 1883. This drive takes you through intriguing moon landscape of endless desert vistas and bizarre rock formations The small harbour town is perched on rugged black rock, offset by the deep blue waters of the bay, and is surrounded by bays, coves and fjords.
During the morning visit to the ghost town of Kolmanskop where diamonds were first discovered in Namibia. Afterwards sightseeing in and around Lüderitz and return to Klein Aus Vista.

Day 5:
Continue through the scenic Neisip Plain and drive along the edge of the Namib Desert, the Tiras Mountains and the Nubib Mountains to Hammerstein Lodge.

Day 6:
In the early morning depart on an excursion to the Sesriem Canyon and Sossusvlei, a large clay pan in the centre to the Namib Desert, surrounded by the highest sand dunes in the world. Arrive round about lunchtime at the Namib Desert Lodge. In the afternoon take part in a dune drive.
Dinner/overnight/breakfast at the Namib Desert Lodge.

Day 7:
Drive via Remhoogte Pass to Rehoboth and visit the Oanob Dam. Return to Windhoek. Arrival in the late afternoon.
Overnight/breakfast at the Safari Court.

Day 8:
Travel from Windhoek across the rolling hills of the Khomashochland at an altitude of more than 2000 metres above sea level, down the Gamsberg Pass into the Namib, which is the oldest desert in the world. The landscape varies from rugged mountains and rocky outcrops to sand-filled valleys and endless vistas of plains.
After a short rest with lunchpacks proceed through the Namib-Naukluft Park, passing the water-holes Ganab and Hotsas where, with a bit of luck, one can see ostriches, springbok, oryx and mountain zebras. Then on to the Welwitschia Plain, where the Welwitschia plant, a living fossil, that is only found in the Namib and southern Angola, occurs in large numbers. Drive to the so called "Moon Valley" - a fascinating rock formation which is millions of years old. Arrival in Swakopmund at about sunset. Lunchpacks en route.
Overnight/breakfast at Hansa Hotel.

Day 9:
After breakfast, depart to Walvis Bay for a boat cruise with champagne, fresh oysters and snacks on board. Return to Swakopmund. In the afternoon, a city tour through Swakopmund and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 10:
Drive via the tarred road into the interior, pass the Spitzkoppe and proceed to the beautiful Erongo mountain area. In the late afternoon sundowner drive.

Day 11:
Early morning start for a three hours drive in open vehicles on the premises of the lodge. Numerous pre-historic rock-paintings will draw you into the spell of mystic Africa. Afterwards proceed to the Ugab terraces.
Dinner/Overnight/breakfast at Vingerklip Lodge

Day 12:
Trip proceeds to the famous Etosha National Park. First game-viewing drive.
Dinner/Overnight/breakfast at the Etosha Gateway Lodge or similar.

Day 13:
Full day game viewing in the Etosha National Park. This national park is one of the major sanctuaries for wildlife in Africa. The area was proclaimed a game reserve as far back as 1907. The size is 22270 qkm and it consists mainly of bush and grass savannah. This type of landscape provides excellent opportunities for game-viewing at the numerous waterholes or in the open countryside. The Etosha Pan, which the park is named after, is approximately 6000 qkm in size. In the language of the Ovambo people, Etosha means "place of dry water", or "large white place". Game viewing drive after breakfast until late afternoon, with a break at lunchtime.
Overnight/breakfast at Mokuti Lodge.

Day 14:
Full day of gameviewing in the Etosha National Park.
Overnight/breakfast at Mokuti Lodge.

Day 15:
After breakfast proceed via Tsumeb to Frans Indongo Lodge. En route visit Lake Otjikoto, the Mine Museum and the Hoba Meteorite.
Dinner/overnight/breakfast Frans Indongo Lodge.

Day 16:
Return to Windhoek via Okahandja, visit the graves of the Herero chiefs and of the German Schutztruppe. Arrival in Windhoek in the late afternoon.
